The MUB Guide to Product Care

Each item in our collection is crafted with longevity in mind, to be handed-down to the next generation. Here we share tips on how to care for your garments.

Our items, if worn often, shouldn’t be washed after every wear. Instead, hang silk garments to ventilate, away from direct sunlight which can damage the color.
Before cleaning any garment, patch test on an inside seam to check the color won’t be affected.

How to wash and care for your tulle garments
  • Pre‑treat stains before washing by dabbing a small amount of stain remover on the area. For darker pieces, patch test on an inside seam to check the color won’t be affected.
  • Tulle is best hand-washed with a detergent in lukewarm water, allow your item to soak. If your item has Swarovski elements, use cold water to decrease the number of Swarovski elements from dropping.
  • Rinse the garment without wringing, then hang it to air dry.
  • Travel tip: If your item is wrinkled, simply hang in the bathroom while taking a hot shower. The steam will reduce creases.
How to wash and care for your silk & 'silk-combined' garments
  • Pre‑treat stains before washing by dabbing a small amount of stain remover on the area. For darker pieces, patch test on an inside seam to check the color won’t be affected.
  • These fabrics are best hand-washed with a specialist detergent in lukewarm water, without soaking as this can release some dye. Rinse the silk garment without wringing.
  • To machine wash silk, wash at 30°C or lower, on a low spin using a small amount of detergent. A mesh bag can help protect silk garments from snagging or twisting too much or losing too many Swarovski elements in the washer.
  • To dry, lay the silk garment on a towel and roll up the towel to absorb excess moisture. Then lay flat on a drying rack or hang to air dry.
  • To iron silk, use the lowest temperature on an iron.
  • Travel tip: If your item is wrinkled, simply hang in the bathroom while taking a hot shower. The steam will reduce creases.
How to wash and care for your velvet or 'velvet-combined' fabrics
  • It is best to dry clean this fabric.
  • If the garment has a stain, gently brush the velvet around the area of the stain with a soft clothes brush or lint free cloth to try and remove it. Then use a clean lint-free cloth dampened with lukewarm water, dab the stain gently, moving up and down (avoid using too much pressure as this can actually push the stain further into the pile).
  • If the stain is still visible, mix some washing-up liquid with warm water and whisk until it forms a good amount of suds. Then use the cloth to apply the suds to the stained fabric, and dab until the stain disappears. Remove the residue by dabbing with a dry lint-free cloth. Always patch test the method on an inside seam to check the color won’t be affected.
  • It is best to not fold your velvet item, but if you must, stuff your garment with tissue paper to keep its shape.
  • If you must wash, and cannot dry clean, hand-wash, without soaking. Rinse without wringing. Apply pressure to release extra water weight.
  • To dry, lay the garment on a towel and roll up the towel to absorb excess moisture. Then lay flat on a drying rack or hang to air dry. Never iron this fabric.
